Job Summary

The Enterprise Application Services (EAS) department in Information Technology Services (ITS) provides services to support and improve university administration. This includes maintaining existing and implementing new administrative systems, as well as upgrading and supporting a variety of information technology platforms. Reporting to the Associate Director, Projects & Portfolio, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing projects, conducting business process analysis, and driving improvements across enterprise systems and the offices they support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivate results-oriented project teams with shared goals and a common knowledge base. Manage projects through all phases, ensuring deliverables are achieved using sound project management methods (e.g., project charters, work breakdown structures, scheduling, communications, and decision matrices).
  • Consult with functional and technical experts to analyze and document business processes, functional requirements, and procedures. Recommend and implement strategic solutions to improve efficiency, data integrity, and system integration.
  • Provide consultative advice to staff on optimizing business processes, integrated systems, and data management. Assess the impact of proposed changes and ensure alignment with organizational objectives and policy standards.
  • As a member of the enterprise systems team, ensure data integrity and security compliance, perform audits, resolve discrepancies, and test new functionality and upgrades. Provide user support, guidance, and training as required.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on new initiatives, best practices, and emerging technologies in IT and higher education to support both immediate and long-term strategic goals.

Note

There are two available positions, one regular on-going position and one three (3) year term position. Candidates are asked to indicate in their cover letter if they wish to be considered for both or only one position.

The successful applicants will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in a related field such as Business Administration or Information Technology plus five years' experience in a similar role (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Project implementation and process improvement experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • A highly motivated individual and innovative thinker with the proven ability to work successfully both independently and in a team environment.

Assets

  • Project management and/or business analysis certification.
  • Lean/ Lean Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • Experience working in higher education.
