Job Skills / Requirements

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers - Bilingual (FR/EN) do? 

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by:

Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpointsCommunicate with passengers in both French and EnglishProviding information professionally and with integrityConfirming valid boarding passesScanning and testing baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniquesProtecting restricted areasManaging conflictCommunicating clearly and effectivelyUpholding all regulations with vigilance

You will receive paid training at $28.68/hour, increasing to $31.01/hour after completing the training program and full certification. You'll also receive comprehensive benefits and a great uniform 

What You Bring: 

Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) yearStrong English and French communication skills, both written and verbalOpen availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidaysMust be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent ResidentCurrent resident of Whitehorse, or the surrounding areaAbility to comply with the CATSA medical requirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)

This role will be fully based at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (YXY).

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which much be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
