Our client, a well-established and reputable law firm is seeking an
Litigation Legal Assistant
to support its busy and growing team. This role is ideal for someone with civil litigation experience who is looking to build their skills within a specialized practice area.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and organizational support to lawyers and law clerks within the estates litigation group.
- Assist with preparing basic court forms, correspondence, and routine legal documents under supervision.
- Open, organize, and maintain electronic and physical litigation files, ensuring documents are properly saved, labeled, and accessible.
- Schedule meetings, discoveries, mediations, and court appointments; coordinate calendars and confirm attendance with all parties.
- Monitor and track deadlines, limitation reminders, and follow-ups to ensure files remain on schedule.
- Conduct preliminary research, perform online court searches, and gather supporting documentation as requested.
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and third parties to obtain information and relay updates.
- Assist with organizing briefs, binders, and document packages for hearings, mediations, and client meetings.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, mail, courier deliveries, and electronic filings.
- Support the team with general administrative duties and practice management tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Law Clerk diploma, Paralegal license, or equivalent legal training an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in litigation support, or related legal administration.
- Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and general litigation processes.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office, legal practice software, and document management systems.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a client-focused approach.
Compensation
- Competitive salary up to
$70,000
