Meat Facility Supervisor

Job Summary:
The primary function of the Meat Facility Supervisor is to provide overall day-to-day operational functionality of the meat facility at the discretion of and in the absence of the Meat Facility Manager; to ensure adequate receiving, shipping and processing of meat products; to meet objectives for sales, inventory turns, labor, product selections and fulfill customer needs.
Responsibilities:
At the discretion of the Meat Facility Manager, responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Oversees the processing of meat products to be sold at The Big Carrot store locations including quality and inventory control.
- Ensures all Health and Safety protocols, operational policies and procedures, organic compliance procedures, and statutory standards and regulations regarding food safety are followed.
- Oversees meat facility function including staff supervision, scheduling, task delegation, shipping and receiving, equipment function, butchering, and meat facility cleanliness as per store policies and procedures; maintains organized and effective files and data via digi-management.
- Document all Department Meetings if, and when, required. Makes observations and documents day-to-day running of the facility and confers with Meat Facility Manager on a regular basis regarding the state of the facility.
- Creates a positive environment amongst meat facility employees, motivates staff to take responsibility and to make decisions based on experience.
- Maintains consistent communication with Standards Coordinator on all matters as they relate to organic compliance (e.g. changes in supplier, new products, changes in cleaners, etc.)
- Perform any other job-related and/or managerial tasks at the discretion of the Meat Facility Manager.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of 2 years of meat cutting experience;
- knowledge of "all natural" meat programs
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
- Able to follow directions.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance and create a working environment that fosters creativity and problem solving.
- Strong orientation to detail; including strong analytical skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Appropriate food handler's certificate/card
