Position: Food Safety Coordinator
Department: Food Safety
Reporting To: Food Safety Manager
Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, may change according to business need
Location: Calgary, AB
Purpose of Position
This document represents a general overview/framework of this job description. It is not intended to be an all-inclusive listing of the job scope of the applicable employee. It is the responsibility of the Food Safety Coordinator to assist the Food Safety Manager in development and implementation of new and existing Food Safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, review, and verify established food safety policies and practices
- Prepare and assist with audit events by food inspectors and agencies
- Collaborate with Lead Hands, Supervisors and Managers to ensure proper delegation of Food Safety responsibilities
- Provide Food Safety training to all employees in a clear and concise manner
- Assist in conducting spot audits of the facility on an ongoing basis to ensure continued adherence to Food Safety requirements
- Monitor and verify proper completion of all Food Safety documentation
- Monitor the team to ensure compliance with all Food Safety documentation
- Study the established program to identify any deviations from company protocol and record corrective action resolutions on Food Safety documentation
- Assist in monitoring, verifying, validating the Sanitation Team's responsibilities and schedules to ensure sanitation practices are adhered to
- Assist, prepare and maintain reports, GMPs, SOPs, CFIA Inspection requests, along with general administrative tasks
- Maintain inhouse inventory and weekly counting of supplies
- Other responsibilities relevant to the position will be assigned as required
Academic & Trade Qualifications
- Minimum three (2) years of Food Safety experience in related field
- Previous experience assisting Food Safety Management Programs
- Knowledge of HACCP, CanadaGap, ISO 22000:2018
- Knowledge of SQF or BRC experience is an asset
- Accredited certification in a food-related discipline will be an asset
- Knowledge or assistance in recall procedures and ability to run a recall
- Knowledge or assistance in hazard identification, risk assessment and needed corrective actions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to interact with a wide range of culturally diverse individuals
- Experience within the produce industry would be an asset
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00-$23.00 per hour
