Role: Production & QC Coordinator

Job Location: Burnaby, BC

Salary Range: $58,000 – $68,000

The Role

The Production & QC Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that bulk production meets Watson's quality standards, delivery timelines, and operational expectations through effective execution and cross-functional collaboration, guided by a strong commitment to integrity.

Working closely with the Production & QC Lead, you will execute technical direction, escalate quality risks, and align on QC standards to ensure adherence to established protocols. Together, you'll form the core of Watson's quality control structure, safeguarding product integrity and supporting continuous improvement throughout the production lifecycle.

This role requires adaptability, critical thinking, and strong project leadership in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on improving efficiency through process optimization while supporting accurate reporting, data integrity, and seamless collaboration across Product, Purchasing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.

YOUR core responsibilities

Pre-production Support:

  • Work in close partnership with the Production & QC Lead to review pre‑production samples, assess fit, construction, and workmanship against approved specifications, and document findings with clear recommendations prior to bulk production approval
  • Advise Product Developer of final size spec measurements to be applied onto Glove Specification Sheets
  • Interact on a daily basis with suppliers to problem solve issues related to bulk production when required
  • Initiate and oversee WIP protocols with suppliers on first production runs, maintaining visibility into production status, timelines, and potential quality concerns
  • Organize, label, and maintain the sample room, ensuring all pre‑production, size‑set, QC, and reference samples are accurately tagged, current, and stored according to Watson's standards
  • Ensure obsolete or superseded samples are removed to maintain a clear and reliable sample library for internal reference and audits

Supply Chain Cross Functional Duties:

  • Review inbound reports, update status of shipments by vendor and cross check with packing lists
  • Advise purchasing if there are styles on supplier packing lists that do not match expected delivery dates and request approval
  • Work collaboratively with Purchasing, Factory, and Product team and to execute raw material sourcing protocol
  • Work collaboratively with Factory and Product team, and to create and execute raw material quality control protocol once bulk production arrives

Quality Control and Vendor Compliance:

  • Ensure suppliers follow Watson QC protocols in Pre-Shipment Inspection reports
  • Support the on-boarding and training of new and existing vendors on Watson production and quality expectations
  • Review freight forwarder's shipment reports and cross check against inbound report to follow up with suppliers on any missing PSI reports to ensure they are sent for review before goods are released for shipping
  • Review all Pre-Shipment Inspection reports from overseas vendors and approve or reject for shipping
  • Own the accuracy and upkeep of Pre‑Production and QIMA inspection dashboards in , providing real‑time visibility into QC status, outstanding actions, and risk areas to the Product, Purchasing, and Operations teams
  • Once bulk production goods arrive at the warehouse, conduct internal QC inspections against approved Glove Specification Sheets (GSSs), confirm release to the Receiving team when standards are met, or escalate quality issues to Product, Operations, Purchasing teams, and suppliers as required
  • If defective goods are discovered, initiate internal inspection protocols and coordinate escalation with Product, Operations, and Purchasing teams as required
  • Prepare and issue comprehensive defective product reports for suppliers when quality issues are identified, documenting findings, inspection results, quantities impacted, and corrective action requirements to support resolution, accountability, compensation assessment, and continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets that tracks CAPA plans for 1 year after defective goods are found and close the file if the issues have been resolved
  • Maintain the Vendor QC log to track quality issues throughout the fiscal year, with reports submitted to the Purchasing team to support annual vendor scorecards
  • When required, order 3rd party QC inspections (QIMA)
  • Create the inspection protocol on QIMA website for inspectors to follow
  • Arrange for inspection samples and glove specification sheets to be sent to overseas QC inspectors to reference for 3rd party inspections
  • Review and analyze 3rd party QC Reports and make recommendation to Product and Purchasing teams for shipping
  • Support the training of Watson Canadian factory on production and quality control expectations

What YOU BRING to Watson Gloves

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in production management, planning and product development, or a related role
  • Diploma or certificate in fashion design, production, or a similar field
  • Ability to recognize potential production and material issues
  • Strong understanding of and experience with factory manufacturing/production methods, construction, fabrication and sourcing
  • Strong project management, problem solving, and analytical skills are a requirement
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines as required
  • Team player with ability to collaborate with external and cross functional groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience in implementing scale up strategies is an asset

Technical Skills:

  • Strong familiarity with technical software
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional
  • Microsoft Office Suite, with strong proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains software is a plus
