CAMH’s donor funded Margaret and Wallace McCain Centre for Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (McCain Centre) is focused on enhancing and improving the design, delivery and effectiveness of mental health and substance use health systems, services and policies for children and youth aged 6-24. The McCain Centre combines evidence-based and innovative research techniques to ensure strong clinical utility and relevance in their initiatives.
YWHO is part of a broader pan-Canadian youth mental health system transformation initiative to build integrated youth services (IYS) where young people ages 12 to 25 years have walk-in access to youth-centered, community-based mental health and wellness services informed by youth, family members and service providers. This initiative engages youth, family members and other stakeholders through a co-creation process, ensuring services are designed and delivered according to their needs.
The newly established pan-Canadian Integrated Youth Services (IYS) Collaboration Centre (IYS-CC) at CAMH has been created to support development, implementation and evaluation of IYS practices, services, and research across Canada. There are emerging or established IYS networks in every province and territory in Canada, with close connections to the ACCESS Open Minds Indigenous Youth Mental Health and Wellness Network. IYS networks deliver mental health, substance use health, primary care, education, employment, housing and other health, social and community services to youth aged 12 to 25 years. The IYS model is also characterized by its commitments to equity, engagement, measurement and continuous learning. IYS youth hubs are in more than 100 communities across Canada.
The McCain Centre together with the YWHO PO and the IYS-CC is currently seeking a full-time, one-year contract Scientific Associate. Reporting to the McCain Centre Research Operations Manager and the Principal Investigator, the Scientific Associate will support research funded projects that focus on Indigenous data sovereignty in research governance and data management, decolonizing research methodology and ethics, and community engagement for vulnerable populations.
This position is located at CAMH, 80 Workman Way, Toronto ON.
