BCR Properties located at Roberts Bank in Delta B.C., manages and operates the BCR Port Subdivision railway infrastructure and property. The BCR Port Subdivision is the sole rail access point serving the largest intermodal and coal terminals in Canada.

This opportunity is well suited for a semi-retired individual or someone who is available to work on short notice. A flexible work schedule is an important attribute for this role, as this casual employee will be called to report to duty to cover short notice unforeseen absences within the full-time staffing pool.

24 work hours are guaranteed per month, with potential to work up to 168 hours per month. Full training will be provided, which will be full time work until qualified.

As a Rail Traffic Controller, you are responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trains and engineering crews on the main track.

**Position Accountabilities**:

- Dispatch and manage rail traffic and track maintenance along the Roberts Bank rail corridor using Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) System software and hardware.
- Ensure open, fair and equal access for all user railways servicing Roberts Bank terminals.
- Provide control functions to ensure the safe movement of trains and other on-track railway equipment.
- Minimize train delays, terminal delay and customer delays through effective planning and communication.
- Data entry into proprietary software, Microsoft Office and various information systems.
- Assist internal and external customers in problem solving.
- Manage response for all emergency situations.

**Position Requirements**:

- A minimum of 2 years Rail Traffic Controller experience is a must.
- Qualified in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR).
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Effective planning, decision making and problem-solving skills in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Must be willing to work on-call shift work.
