Working hours 7am to 4pm - sites are mainly in the west end of the city - office is in north york.

Will report to health and safety manager.

**Responsibilities**:
Safety Leadership:

- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and advise workers on procedures and processes to promote safer working conditions.
- Document safety issues and violations reported by subcontractors and employees, ensuring proper filing and record-keeping.
- Enforce disciplinary policies in accordance with the Safety Program established by the company.
- Communicate site issues reported by subcontractors to the appropriate customer for timely resolution.

Health and Safety Systems:

- Arrange and conduct safety meetings to address specific concerns, review incident reports, and provide updates on safety protocols.
- Ensure office and warehouse facilities adhere to up-to-date safety standards through regular assessments and prompt resolution of issues.
- Assist in organizing Joint Health and Safety Meetings and subcontractor meetings to promote collaboration and compliance.
- Develop and improve the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) program, including the maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Deliver new hire safety orientations and updates to employees and subcontracted workers.
- Administer, track, and review monthly health and safety submissions from subcontractors, providing recommendations for compliance.

WSIB and Return to Work:

- Track and manage subcontractor WSIB validation to ensure compliance with insurance requirements.
- Assist in the return-to-work program, consulting with the Health and Safety Manager, supervisors, and involved workers.

Procedure Improvement:

- Collaborate with the Health and Safety Manager, Operations Manager, and Joint Health and Safety Committee to develop, enhance, and implement company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local health and safety regulations, including but not limited to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA).
- Stay updated on changes to health and safety legislation and communicate any updates or requirements to relevant stakeholders.

Incident Investigation:

- Assist in incident response and the investigations of investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Mitigation:

- Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to implement appropriate control measures and ensure ongoing adherence to safety protocols.

Safety Culture Promotion:

- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization by organizing safety campaigns, recognition programs, and training initiatives.
- Encourage employee participation in safety committees and foster a sense of shared responsibility for health and safety.

Safety Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor safety performance across projects and sites.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on safety metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

- Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing health and safety practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of learning and innovation.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Relevant certifications in health and safety are highly desirable.
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
- Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) will be considered an asset.

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
