Upper Canada Child Care is looking to fill the position of a **Temporary** **Assistant Supervisor** to join our team located in **Barrie**at **The School Age Group.**

**Position length**:Until April 2025.

**Weekly Hours**: 40 hours/week

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Provides assistance to the Supervisor in the overall operation of the centre and curriculum, ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures. Serves as role model to the team providing direction and support through respectful leadership. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
- Applies professional knowledge of child development and current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
- Acts as designate in charge in the absence of the supervisor.
- Conducts centre tours for families and placement students as required.
- Reviews program charts, pedagogical documentation, and classroom environments to ensure quality program delivery.
- Supports the supervisor in preparing employees schedules to ensure legislated classroom ratios are met at all times
- Works in collaboration with the Supervisor and the Quality Assurance and Licencing Support in Ministry of Education inspection/licensing activities.
- Provides guidance and support to front line staff, including support in working with children with identified needs.
- Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
- Assists the supervisor with the facilitation of team and individual; documents meeting and provides meeting minutes as required.
- Participates in professional development opportunities, and training sessions as required.
- Helps the supervisor complete compliance and contraventions monitoring on employees as required. Reports concerns to the supervisor, including the performance of other employees with respect to the policy.
- Reviews program charts, pedagogical documentation, and classroom environments to ensure quality program delivery.
- Assists with the training and orientation of new employees, students and volunteers.
- Maintains and/or collects child attendance records for subsidy purposes and submits reports to Children’s Services as required.
- Maintains centre and/or office logs, documents and files as required.
- Monitors inventory and spending, and helps maintains petty cash.
- Participates in health and safety initiatives as required in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety.
- Supports child registration including the collection, recording and maintenance of personal information. Supports Accounts Payable department with fee collection as needed.
- Assists with payroll data entry.
- Fills the role of classroom teacher as needed; supports with general housekeeping and classroom duties (e.g. meal/snack preparation, toileting, diapering, dressing).
- Consults with the supervisor regarding supplies and equipment required to run a successful program.
- Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**
- Diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE); or approved equivalency, from a recognized college or university.
- Minimum two-year’s experience working in a licensed child care setting.
- Good working knowledge of all legislation and guiding documents related to licensed child care in Ontario.
- A recent Vulnerable Sector Check
- Health assessment and record of immunization, a
