**JOB SUMMARY**

Under the general supervision of the SVP, Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for manufacturing products in a safe, quality oriented, productive, reliable, and cost-effective manner while demonstrating leadership and great people management skills. Working collaboratively with the supply chain, maintenance and warehouse team members, this position requires a hands-on manager with excellent problem-solving skills and a sharp focus on continuous improvement.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Lead the manufacturing team in the safe production of quality products with a continuous improvement mindset focused on productivity, equipment reliability and unit cost.
- Coach, Mentor and train all Production Supervisors and associates.
- Ensure the implementation of continuous improvement methodology in the manufacturing process.
- Promote and maintain end to end process control improvement initiatives.
- Monitor processing variables and critical control points and address deviations in a timely and controlled fashion.
- Implement cost reduction and throughput improvement initiatives.
- Develop and optimize the manufacturing reporting procedures and systems.
- Facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control limits.
- Develop collaborative relations with the Maintenance department to ensure timely condition-based maintenance of all equipment.
- Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Maintain quality assurance by establishing and enforcing organizational quality standards.
- Review manufacturing processes for efficiency, noting areas for improvement related to all areas of the manufacturing facility.
- Ensure the efficient operation of equipment by engaging the right internal or external resources and by evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Lead the formation of an effectively functional JH&SC and represent management on the JH&SC.
- Maintain compliance with established Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
- Investigate and document all adverse incident reports including but not limited to QA, H&S and Production. Ensure in-depth Root Cause analysis is completed on every incident.
- Engage in Operation Projects as assigned, never accepting the status quo, always looking for opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and probationary reviews with manufacturing salaried staff.
- Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and implementing them.
- Be visible and maintain more than 90% presence on the plant floor throughout the day.
- Manage vacation requests for shift/crew, permanent and temporary staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Business Management from an accredited university or College.
- 5+ years manufacturing experience within the Canadian Food industry in a management role.
- Track record of accomplishments in a manufacturing with progressive levels of responsibility.
- Great Leadership and motivational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- A sense of urgency with ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
- Strategic planning and critical thinking are key assets
- Knowledge and experience in Canadian Health and Safety practices and requirements.
- Trained in GMP and HACCP

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
