Reporting to the Director, Crew Administration, this key Manager, Crew Administration Budget role will leverage their expertise to lead functional teams and drive complex financial initiatives with regards to Flight Attendant and Pilot crew cycle budgets for hotel accommodations, ground transportation and expenses. This position is accountable for the performance and results of the team, influencing decisions that impact both the team and the broader department. The role requires strategic oversight of budgetary responsibilities and the delivery of comprehensive plans, programs, and processes.
In addition, this position will support Crew Resources with financial and accounting matters as well as managing the Administrative Coordinators.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and manage budgets for Pilot and Flight Attendant crew cycles, reviewing financial reports related to hotel accommodations, ground transportation, and expenses, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaboration with Crew Administration, Crew Payroll, Crew Planning, and Finance highlighting issues with financial/risk implications, and solutioning mitigations for executive approval.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and refine methodologies for analyzing and managing the global Pilot and Flight Attendant crew cycle budgets, focusing on hotel accommodation and transportation efficiency.
- Assess monthly financial results to on Volume, Price and FX components, providing variance explanations and actionable insights to senior management.
- Work with senior management to evaluate variances implement corrective actions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of crew cycle expense financial results.
- Establish and lead processes for reviewing budget & financial performance with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Identify opportunities for increased efficiencies and process improvements by developing and maintaining KPIs, budget metrics and performance results.
- Proactively manage cost savings initiatives by collaborating with pairing managers to uncover potential savings within in the crew cycle framework.
- Design and develop comprehensive reports to meet the needs of Crew Resources & Administration, including requirements for the new Crew Payroll System.
- Maintain month end accruals and oversee the efficiency of budget and long-range planning processes.
- Develop revised rate analysis models in partnership with Crew Planning to ensure accurate budget forecasting.
- Develop and manage processes for crew cycle hotel validation, expense tracking, and payment reconciliation, 3rd party broker & internal teams to ensure invoice accuracy.
- Serve as a resource for the negotiating team during bargaining preparation and negotiations, providing expert financial insights.
- Oversee / manage Crew Pay System Analyst and Crew Admin Coordinator team, ensuring high performance and accountability.
- Perform other duties as required to support Crew Administration and Crew Resources, demonstrating flexibility and initiative in meeting organizational needs.
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Accounting and/or business designation (CA, CGA, CMA, MBA, etc) completed or underway, an asset.
- Self-starter, energetic with strong sense of initiative and creativity.
- Strong analytical background with a knowledge of financial analysis techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to shift priorities and work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work with others.
- Previous experience working with collective agreements, in particular the Air Canada/ALPA Collective Agreement, and/or, Air Canada/CUPE (Airline division/Air Canada
- Component) Collective Agreement, an asset.
- Flight Operations or In-Flight Service experience, a definite asset.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and must be available for flexible hours.
