Who We Are

The **Workers’ Resource Centre (WRC)** is a charitable organization that helps Albertans understand and access their workplace rights and benefits. We work alongside workers—especially those from equity-seeking groups—to navigate complex employment systems and get the support they’re entitled to. Our work focuses on real people with real challenges, including newcomers, people with disabilities, precariously employed workers, and those facing language or literacy barriers.

We offer support with Employment Insurance, the Employment Standards Code, Workers’ Compensation, Human Rights complaints, CPP-Disability, AISH, and employer-based short/long-term disability plans.

About the Role

This is an ideal position for someone who thrives on organizing information, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about social justice and equity in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients (in person and over the phone) with compassion and professionalism
- Complete client intakes and initial needs assessments
- Triage inquiries and coordinate next steps with caseworkers
- Refer clients to other community supports when their needs fall outside WRC’s scope
- Coach clients through tasks like completing bi-weekly EI reports
- Follow up with clients post-service to gather outcome data and ensure continued support
- Maintain accurate records in WRC’s client database
- Support monthly and annual data reporting and evaluation
- Coordinate interpreters as needed
- Assist with preparing client correspondence
- Support administrative needs of the casework team

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You Have:

- A degree in social work, policy studies, law, labour studies, or a related field—or equivalent lived/professional experience
- Strong understanding of employment legislation (or a keen interest and capacity to learn)—including Employment Standards, EI, WCB, CPP-D, and Human Rights
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A calm, client-centered approach to navigating stressful situations
- Experience working with equity-seeking communities and a demonstrated commitment to inclusion and anti-oppression
- Familiarity working with newcomers and individuals who speak English as an additional language
- Excellent organization and time management skills—you’re a systems thinker
- Tech-savviness with MS Office and an openness to learning new software
- Fluency in an additional language is a significant asset
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend outreach

At the WRC, we work hard, support each other, and advocate fiercely for people who are often left behind in workplace systems. If that sounds like your kind of team, we’d love to hear from you
