Our mission at Nucleus Independent Living is to support adults to live independently at home by providing caring and dependable service.

**Our Organization**

Nucleus was incorporated in 1983 as a charitable, non-profit organization that now serves the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network region and some areas of Toronto. We excel in providing reliable attendant services that enable seniors and persons with physical disabilities to remain living safely and independently in their own homes. Our services encompass supports for daily living, including a 24-hour mobile support service, attendant services in the home, school or at work, supportive housing for adults with physical disabilities and temporary in home relief for primary caregivers through the Caregiver Recharge Program.

We are seeking volunteer Board Members with experience working with or on a not-for-profit governing Board and expertise one or more of the following areas:

- Finance and accounting expertise, including formal/recognized credentials.
- Legal compliance
- Digital strategy implementation
- Human Resources, labour relations and diversity
- Lived experience with physical disabilities or as a caregiver, stakeholder engagement and advocacy
- Strategic planning and business management, governance oversight.
- Government relations engagement / policy analysis

Our Board meets a minimum of 6 times per year and meetings are normally held at our head office in Oakville. Commitment to regularly attend meetings and participate in sub-committee work is required.
