Permanent Housing Coordinator

**Job Purpose**
Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Permanent Housing Coordinator works closely with other service coordinators to develop and support permanent housing solutions for PAQ community members. He or she provides hands-on coordination and support to two key PAQ permanent housing options: 1) Projet Logement Montréal (off-site housing), and 2) PAQ House (on-site permanent housing). The Permanent Housing Coordinator also plays a front-line intervention role, offering psycho-social support to First Nations, Metis and Inuit women and men living in PAQ permanent housing. Finally, the person in this role works closely with the Housing Manager to supervise and mentor the PAQ House intervention team.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
**A. Projet Logement Montréal (PLM) Coordination**
- Serve as coordinator and liaison with PLM staff.
- Provide visits and follow up with PAQ community members in PLM housing to support integration, and then on an as-needed basis.
**B. Direct Intervention**
- Establish a bond of trust with PAQ house residents through active listening and positive interactions using a culturally adapted approach that encompasses Indigenous traditions, culture, and world view. Foster the creation of a safe and welcoming community.
- Meet regularly to support the (non-MAP) residents of PAQ House to develop abilities and skills required to live autonomously in supportive housing.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle and provide counselling and intervention support and follow-up on immediate and longer-term goals such as housing, health care, employment, finances and other basic needs.
- Design intervention plans with residents tailored to their individual needs and that meet their objectives; provide support and encouragement to residents to implement their plans.
- Support intervention workers to provide crisis management on mental health issues, and conjugal and other forms of violence.
- Encourage residents to develop within the PAQ community, performing mediation when necessary, between residents.
- Ensure compliance with PAQ House policies and protocols by residents.
- Build knowledge and networks of other partner services, programs, and resources to support referrals, and follow-up.
- Maintain clinical case files.
**C. Building Management**
- Provide support to the Building and Operations Coordinator to ensure cost-effective management of PAQ House.
**D. Other**:
- Infuses a spirit of excellence and innovation within PAQ culture and working environment.
- Promotes PAQ’s values at work and externally
- Other duties, as assigned
**E. PAQ House Coordination**
- Develop and update PAQ House permanent housing criteria, tools, policies and protocols
- Update and manage statistics and produce monthly activity reports.
- Oversee on-site security staff at PAQ House.
- Represent PAQ on relevant external committee when requested.
**F. Intervention Team**
- Provide intervention support and coaching to the PAQ House intervention team (approximately 10%-15% time on the floor).
- Produce by mid-month the intervention team schedule for the following month, ensuring full coverage for all shifts and approve bi-weekly time sheets for all PAQ house staff.
- Coordinate and track all HR-related matters for intervention workers.
- Carry out recruitment of PAQ House intervention workers and other staff
- Establish, communicate and ensure compliance of PAQ house COVID-19 protocols.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impact of intergenerational trauma and on-going realities in Indigenous communities, housing barriers, and Indigenous social issues.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in social housing; at least one must be in a coordination or administration role.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in an intervention/social work role, preferably with Indigenous peoples on within a social housing context
- Proven practical knowledge of and direct experience with OMHM/PSL programs and processes.
- In-depth knowledge of community and governmental services in the areas of housing, health and justice in Montréal.
- Proficient in spoken French and English and solid writing skills in at least one; knowledge of an Indigenous language is a significant asset.
- Experience in building management an asset.
- Outstanding ability to motivate and to inspire others to participate and engage
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience in mediation and or cooperative living.
**Required Academic or Other Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Current first-aid certifica
