Join the Client Solutions team, where we’re working with our partners to address housing affordability issues. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that CMHC’s risk exposure is minimized when it supports the development, management and maintenance of social and affordable housing programs through in-depth analysis of files, and for recommending solutions for projects that seek to either create new affordable housing, preserve an existing social housing project, or obtain funding/renewals or policy exceptions. You’ll communicate and negotiate with consultants and clients to explore possible options, and ultimately find a solution that minimizes CMHC’s risk exposure while working toward fulfilling CMHC’s mission to help Canadians meet their housing needs. You’ll provide high quality services to enhance the Corporation’s image and maintain good business relations with industry clients and various levels of CMHC management.
**Responsibilities**:
- Monitor and report on activities on an ongoing basis, relying on financial and political authorities to recommend the approval of exceptions, if applicable, when designing new solutions.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with clients and other relevant stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of their business and operating environment, facilitating document review and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with various professionals (other CMHC business lines and external experts) to validate and verify facts and data that can have an impact on financial recommendations and decisions.
- Prepare reports and briefings, and coordinate and document the decisions made on all activities and other relevant policies and procedures for the proper functioning of social/affordable housing projects/portfolios for assigned projects
- Analyze and maintain complex information critical to the reporting of program outputs and outcomes, identifying gaps and taking action to ensure gaps are addressed.
- Demonstrate informed judgment and due diligence when making decisions that are based on facts and complex analysis to derive recommendations and solutions in line with the expected results of the programs and government expectations, and within CMHC’s risk appetite.
- Coordinate all activities and other relevant policies and procedures
- Ensure client satisfaction through high client service standards that meet client needs in both official languages (English-French).
**Minimum qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce, with a specialization in accounting, finance or property management
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing projects related to program management
- Ability to interpret program guidelines to ensure maximum flexibility is used in their implementation.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to capture and summarize information
- Strong knowledge of procedures, policies, regulations and risk management
- Knowledge of real estate management and development based on the regulatory frameworks of the various levels of government.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles to communicate messages that have the desired effect in both official languages (English-French)
- Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate the acceptance of proposals or plans
- Capacity to develop strong and sustainable partnerships.
- Understanding of the impacts of public policies and the political environment on federal-provincial housing programs
