**Position Overview**

**Responsibilities**:
**Forest Estate Modeling**: Use and adapt existing Forest Estate Models to support a wide range of analysis projects, including Timber Supply Review, timberland valuation, carbon project development, management of existing tenures, etc. You will use industry standard modeling software including Patchworks and/or Woodstock, in addition to other tools from time to time.

**Carbon Modeling**: Use industry standard modeling tools (e.g., CBM-CFS3, GCBM), allometric equations, remote sensing data, and field plots to integrate carbon inventory and projections into forest management decision-making.

**Growth and Yield Modeling**: Develop growth and yield projections.

**Reporting and Communication**: Contribute to written reports describing methodology and results, including interpretation of results relative to client objectives.

**Collaboration**: Work with the full Meristem team to ensure that every product we deliver to a client uses the best available expertise that Meristem has to offer.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Geography, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Eligible for registration as a BC Forester-in-Training (FIT) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP).
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a forestry or natural resource management-related position
- Experience with or exposure to forest estate modeling (e.g., Patchworks, Woodstock, growth and yield modeling (e.g., TIPSY, VDYP, FVS, FPS), and/or forest carbon analysis.
- Exposure to using scripted workflows with tools such as Python, R, and SQL.
- An analytical approach to problem solving.
- Knowledge of forestry practices, inventory techniques, and management principles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to work as part of a team, contributing to delivery of high-quality work products and meeting project timelines.
