Halifax, Canada AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia Full time

**Impact statement**: The AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia (ACNS) is a non-profit organization which provides materials and educational content to those who feel they may be at risk of contracting HIV or those who already have contracted it. We look to create a safe space where anyone living with HIV can feel supported and empowered, furthermore we aim to end the stigma surrounding HIV.

**Description**: An individual who would succeed in this role would have to be comfortable with talking to sponsors to secure money for events, be informed about HIV and willing to share information with those who are interested, work to secure auction items and in-kind donations for events, as well as helping plan and attending events to help the organization raise money and awareness.

**Fundraising Committee Volunteer Requirements**:

- Availability to attend and plan fundraising events
- Ability to secure funds through strong communication skills
- Capability of working with those who differ from yourself

**Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of how non-profit organizations fundraise successfully
- Working or volunteer experience in Events Management, Communications, or Public Relations an asset
- The ability to talk and communicate effectively with people from all walks of life

**You will be expected to**:

- Plan and coordinate revenue generating activities
- Research and contact organisations who are interested in making donations
- Converse with current members of ACNS to highlight opportunities that may have been overlooked
- Take initiative in reaching out to companies
