**TEAM LEADER**

**Trace Metals Department**

**1 Full Time Position Available**

The Team Leader is responsible in ensuring that analytical services are conducted in an expedient fashion and that results are reported within the required timeframe by helping to schedule workloads and scheduling primarily within the Trace Metals.

**As a Team Leader, you are responsible for**:

- All other technician and/or analyst responsibilities
- Support in-house capabilities for performing analytical services and testing in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Enforce a QA/QC program within their section including instrumentation, quality requirements, MIA’s investigation and organization of sample analysis to meet TAT’s in line with accreditation requirements
- Operate analytical instrumentation and perform data analysis. Ensure timely maintenance is performed as necessary to mitigate downtime
- Review and approve data
- Recommend improvements regarding process efficiency including training suggestions for staffing and reallocation of staff when necessary to improve productivity and resources
- Notify the Department Manager or Supervisor in advance of impending delays (outline problems and suggest remedial action)
- Monitor the progress of each work center on a daily basis and work with Supervisor to reschedule extraction lab tasks, where required
- Ensure that the section’s instrumentation time is used efficiently by improvement in sample analysis by prioritization and interfacing with sample preparation group to understand any delays and work to mitigate
- Work with other team members to ensure instruments are running efficiently maintaining capacity; oversee and implement improvements in order to increase capacity
- Ensure that scheduled routine maintenance is performed on all section instrumentation and records are well organized
- Ensure section performance charts are monitored for failures to meet tolerances and institute remedial action immediately and updating Supervisor and Manager of department with suggestions on improvements
- Work with Analysts and Technicians to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are understood and are maintained as current
- Perform root cause investigations for analytical instrumentation non-conformances in Food Residue and participate in other investigations as required
- Training and development of staff and assignment of duties commensurate to their experience
- Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
- Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
- Participate, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings
- Participate, when requested in internal and external audits
- Keep work area clean, neat and organized and contribute to housekeeping program
- Provide general lab support
- Maintain training records and relevant qualifications
- Staff daily production meetings, assignment of tasks, schedules staff shifts.
- Bench level training of staff on methods and procedures.
- Participates in audits as needed.
- SOP/WI/FCD effectiveness review, updates and revisions as needed.
- CTA review and writing.
- PDF write-up justification.
- BLNC, SQC, Maintenance logs monthly reviews and approvals.
- All other responsibilities as assigned

**You are the ideal Team Leader if you have**:

- 5+ years related experience
- Leadership experience preferred
- B.Sc. In Chemistry or related science or equivalent College Diploma or a minimum of 7 years related laboratory experience
