**Main Purpose and Function**

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Project manages numerous initiatives related to the updates and implementation of community and area plans, as well as development of new land use policy and area plans.
- Designs and conducts public consultation activities, including community meetings and workshops.
- Works with representatives from other departments and residents to support the implementation of community and area plans.
- Designs and supervises technical analyses conducted by junior staff.
- Writes reports, facilitates meetings and presents to other staff, management, City Council and external stakeholders.
- Supervises junior staff and provides direction and guidance to professional consultants engaged by the City.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
- This position occasionally requires work on weekday evenings and weekends.

**Qualifications**
Education and Experience:

- A university degree in planning or a related discipline, recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Minimum of two years of professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with rezoning processes and a working knowledge of zoning and land-use regulations, land development economics and urban design principles is strongly preferred.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Considerable knowledge of development and review of land use policies in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Knowledge of the City's community and area plans, and related policies.
- Ability to manage complex land use or policy projects.
- Ability to lead project teams and supervise staff.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex issues through Council reports and presentations, or comparable documentation and presentations.
- Ability to develop and conduct public engagement processes.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement in managing workload while delivering projects on time.
- Ability to work independently and participate successfully on work teams.
