Position Overview:
As a General Salvage Technician - Level 1 at OEM, you will be responsible for operating machine tools to manufacturer direct materials and salvage worn parts for use in the remanufacturing process. Your attention to detail and keen eye for quality will allow you to excel in this exciting role.
Job Description:
- Operate machine tools to manufacture direct materials and salvage worn parts for use in the remanufacturing process
- Operate various power/air tools for deburring and cleaning parts
- Measuring/inspecting parts machined with various tooling
- Documenting/recording measurements
- Level 1 is a technician that may require supervision, training or assistance to complete primary job functions
- Maintain and clean equipment as required
- Maintain Caterpillar contamination control initiatives
- May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 6 or higher. Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.
- Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.
- Competency in a machine shop environment is preferred
- Experience operating horizontal and vertical Lathes, Radial Arm Drills, Milling Machines, and Surface Grinders is preferred
- Accurate documentation and measuring skills is preferred
- Ability to understand salvage specifications and related technical documentation is preferred
- Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.
- Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
Note:
- This posting is for a static weekend shift scheduled Fri, Sat, Sun - 12 hours per day
- Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
- Will require successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, a criminal background check, and a medical assessment
- Hourly Rate: $36.05 - $54.59 / Hour
Union Membership: This is a unionized position. Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
