Position Overview:
The exchange salvage planner is responsible for the day to day tactical planning of the machine shop and welding work queues supporting all OEM value streams, as well as weekly reporting on throughput metrics. The salvage planner must work closely with value stream planners and salvage production teams to ensure customer availability and production demands are met in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include weekly plan creation, machine queue review and maintenance, internal fabrication coordination and material supply review. Salvage planner is accountable for machine capacity management, and ensuring critical parts are salvaged within required timelines. This position works closely with numerous internal stakeholders and the salvage planner must have strong inter-personal skills in order to build and maintain positive relationships with internal customers.

**Job Description**:

- Coordinate daily salvage activities between Production Managers and Team Leaders to ensure production objectives are met - this includes scheduling work, communicating delays, and making workforce allocation recommendations
- Reconcile attainment for daily, weekly, and monthly plans
- Coordinate material availability with the material supply team and ensure materials are delivered to the appropriate department
- Coordinate with Planners, Team Leaders, Area Manager, Production Managers, Material Handling & Supply staff for the assigned shop area so that production activities occur in an efficient manner
- Communicate customer requirements to the shop floor and accommodate said requirements in a production plan that also meets corporate objectives
- Update the operating system to maintain up-to-date status information
- Monitor stock and generate work orders for internally fabricated parts
- Expedite critical work through multiple value streams to support customer needs - this includes exploring alternate salvage options, outsourcing, and reallocations.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years’ related experience or an acceptable combination of education and work experience
- Experience in production planning and supply chain management
- Thorough knowledge of planning and expediting activities
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of broad or deep experiences in end-to-end supply chain management within heavy equipment, automotive, utilities, mining, parts or retail industry would be preferred
- Practical experience and theoretical knowledge of production planning is required
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated skill with written and oral communication
- Experience in Finning Parts Department roles, including warehouse, front counter and inventory control would be an asset
- Caterpillar product knowledge would be an asset
- Machine shop / welding operations experience would be an asset
- Ability to utilize a variety of software tools (databases, spreadsheets, flowcharts etc.) to perform forecasting, modelling, analysis, simulations & flow chart functions would be an asset

- This positions is a Monday-Friday, 5x2 shift
