We are hiring to build a robust Talent and Development team to support our bakeries and Team Members.

Our bakery team is the heart of our company and plays an important role in keeping North America’s food supply going. Our Quality Assurance Technicians are responsible for supporting the Quality System Leads in providing quality leadership and direction in their assigned bakery. They strive to build a quality and food safety culture and are a leader in promoting commitment to food safety and quality behaviors. He / She is responsible for monitoring raw material, all processes and finished products to ensure compliance with regulations, Quality Management System requirements, specifications, Good Manufacturing Practices and quality standards.

The Quality Assurance Technicians help in developing and implementing Quality Assurance policies and procedures that meet regulatory, industry and corporate standards/ requirements.

**Core Responsibilities**:

- Execution of Quality Systems and Programs, including program compliance and training at the bakery level
- Manages product specifications, verification and documentation, including updating production floor documents to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for quality testing; including examining raw materials, process and finished products to ensure they comply with quality and food safety standards
- Conducts sampling for microbiological and/or analytical testing and sensory evaluation
- Supports the Development of Food Safety and Quality training, with the QSL and conducts training on food safety and quality requirements for all employees in the bakery.
- Accountable for preparation and participation in all internal/ third party/ CFIA and/or FDA audits
- Conduct GMP inspections and internal audits
- Completes various quality reporting tasks including trend analysis, shift reports and non-conformance
- Support Trials/first production approval runs in keeping with compliance with Stage Gate protocols.
- Partners with the operations teams working collaboratively to deliver against our business goals
- Other duties as assigned

**Other Duties**:

- Production Support including label generation and inkjet, metal detector, X-ray and check weigher troubleshooting and set-ups
- Calibration of lab equipment (ATP, Water Activity, Chlorine Analyzer, Salt etc.) and measuring equipment (scales, calipers, thermometer, color meter etc.)
- Preps and performs environmental swabs and collects samples for air monitoring
- Helps in the identification of root cause analysis and action plans for customer complaints and responsible for follow up on corrective actions

**Key Measures (KPI’s)**:

- % Right First Time Quality
- Reduction of hold / Reduction in $ impact of product disposition to be destroyed
- Certification rating (BRC AA)
- Product consistency metric (CpK or other SPC measures)

**Competencies and Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, process Engineering or a related discipline
- 2-3 years of experience in food safety and quality in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of HACCP/FSMA/SFC, food industry GMP’s, GFSI, BRC Standards, Quality, Regulatory requirements and basic food microbiology
- Proficient in computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio), previous experience with SAP is an asset
- Strong communication skills, leadership attitude, sanitation experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment
- Quality and food safety mind-set and passionate about the quality of manufactured food products
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- Ability to contribute to a team environment by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and feedback to the team
- Operates with continuous improvement mind-set and has demonstrated courage to challenge the status quo, lead & embrace changes and decisions that drive progress
- Ability to work on weekends and on/off shifts, as required.
- Flexibility to rotate on different shifts or come into the bakery for emergencies.
