General Cook

**Reports to**:Sous Chef and First Cook (Lead Hand and Coordinator)

**Position Overview**:Reporting to the Sous Chef and First Cook (Lead Hand and Coordinator), the General Cook supports the Hot Kitchen production by producing food in the Hot Prep, while following MPS production schedule. In addition, the General Cook follows customer specifications and hygiene adherence.
- Prepare and cook dishes menus and recipes as per flight requirements
- Control and maintain temperature of foods while cooking, meat cutting, and portioning
- Ensure high standards in taste, preparation, and consistency to meet company standards
- Ensure all work stations are stocked and prepped for shifts
- Responsible for inventory at hand/reservations for next day’s preparation based on the airline’s load
- Must be flexible with work schedule and hours and adapt to schedule changes to accommodate operational requirements
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work station
- Other related duties within the cooking area, as assigned by the Sous Chef or First cook (Lead Hand or Coordinator)

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- Must have a post-secondary education or 1 year of formal training from a certified culinary institute (asset)
- Must have basic knowledge of food handling procedures, Food Handler Certificate
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a high volume cooking and preparation
- HACCP processes and procedures is an asset
- Ability to read and write in English
- Effective problem solving skills
- Ability to Multi-task
- Ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner

**Salary**: $19.00-$19.13 per hour
