Haliscape Construction is hiring a skilled **Heavy Equipment Operator** to support residential site development projects throughout the Halifax area. This full-time, long-term position involves operating excavators, loaders, and related equipment for grading, trenching, backfilling, and material movement. If you're a dependable operator with a sharp eye for detail and a respect for safety, we’d love to connect.

**Position Highlights**
- Operate **excavators, loaders, and skid steers** for residential construction and landscaping work
- Perform trenching, grading, and backfilling according to site plans and grade requirements
- Keep equipment in good shape with **daily inspections** and minor preventative maintenance
- Work closely with site supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow
- Maintain **clean, safe job sites** and follow all safety procedures
- Provide snow support in winter (snow clearing, plowing, etc.)

**What You Bring to the Table**
- At least **2 years’ experience operating excavators or loaders** in construction or landscaping
- Familiarity with site layout, grade stakes, and reading basic site plans
- Class 5 driver’s license and **reliable transportation** (sites not on transit routes)
- Solid mechanical sense and basic troubleshooting ability
- Physically able to work outdoors in a variety of conditions
- Great communication, teamwork, and a professional attitude

**Additional Skills That Are an Asset**
- Comfortable operating a **skid steer (foot controlled)**:

- First Aid or safety training certification
- Experience with hardscape prep or finish grading in landscaping settings

**Job Details**

- Hours: 40-50 per week (Monday to Friday, occasional Saturdays if needed)
- Location: Work takes place in West Bedford and HRM
- Start Date: ASAP
- Language Requirements: English only - French not required

**Please Note**:
Access to a vehicle is essential. Job sites are not on public transit routes.

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 45 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Excavator: 1 year (required)
- Loader: 1 year (preferred)
- Skid Steer: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (required)
