**SUMMARY OF THE ROLE**:
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the company health and safety policies ad programs, while ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites, facilities and regulatory compliance.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Implements and oversees site safety program through continuous on-site monitoring during field execution
- Liaises with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained
- Provides counsel and advice to project management on all health and safety related matters
- Coordinates and attends on-site health and safety meetings
- Provides site Health and Safety training, indoctrination, orientation to employees
- Provides WHMIS training
- May chair or co-chair Health & Safety Committee
- Thoroughly investigates lost time accidents/incidents and health and safety related complaints
- Generates H&S statistics and provides regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager
- Perform daily observations of our project sites and assist site supervision to ensure all work activities are done safely and within Legislative requirements.
- Performs weekly documented site inspections and monthly safety audits
- Maintains daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks
- Maintains record of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
- Ensures management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business
- Works with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs
- Maintains zero tolerance for on the job safety infractions
- Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited Environmental Health and Safety Management Program and OHSA requirements
- Ensures that environmental aspects within their sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements

**KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Strong knowledge and experience working with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Certified Safety Officer, or working towards (NCSO)
- WSIB Certificate Member (JHSC)
- CPR - First Aid
- Valid Driver's License
- Construction Trade Certification is preferred
- Post-secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety is an asset)
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is an asset
- COR audit experience is considered an asset

**SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**:

- Three (3) years' experience working in a health and safety role in a construction environment
- Intermediate skill level working with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal)
