Reporting to the Director of Operations, the National Health & Safety Manager oversees the national occupational health and safety program. This role involves developing, administering, and implementing safety programs, gathering data to identify improvement opportunities, and delivering solutions through training and development. The manager is responsible for delegating tasks, setting expectations, monitoring progress, and leading a quality health and safety program to reduce risks through education and training.

**Job Responsibilities include**:
- Provide guidance on health and safety policies and procedures- Implement industry best practices and legal requirements- Support program maintenance through inspections, audits, and on-site training- Delegate tasks, set expectations, and monitor progress- Coordinate accident investigations and manage worker claims- Develop and manage health and safety KPIs- Identify performance measures and improve accuracy and documentation.- Collaborate with Operations to ensure compliance with safety programs- Communicate effectively with staff and customers.- Liaise with government inspectors and external parties- Lead and mentor direct reports- Monitor incident reports and manage injury claims- Inform supervisors and management of incidents, assign corrective actions- Ensure attention to detail, record-keeping, and communication- Manage safety training and update the safety data tracking system- Develop and execute health & safety programs according to legal guidelines- Assess risk and adherence to health and safety legislation- Train employees on health & safety matters- Provide leadership through communication, coaching, and development- Enforce Health and Safety regulations and compliance- Manage WCB claims and return to work programs- Maintain accident prevention systems and promote health and safety initiatives- Provide accurate data, reports, and analysis on health and safety- Facilitate incident investigations and risk assessments- Participate in Health and Safety Committee activities- Maintain certifications and perform audits- Handle administrative duties, attend training, and remain compliant with legislation- Develop a system for maintaining employee records
- Ensure customer service and practice good housekeeping
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.- Provincial Health and Safety certification and auditor certification preferred.- Minimum 5 years of experience in health & safety management.- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred.- Experience in training and delivering health & safety programs.- Understanding of disability management and return-to-work programs.- Strong communication skills.- Flexible and adaptable.- Multi-task in a fast-paced environment.- Proficient in Microsoft Office.- Experience in construction, restoration, or insurance is preferred.- Knowledge of Certificate of Recognition (COR) requirements.- Strong organizational and planning skills.- Excellent time management and leadership skills.- Customer service experience.- Eligible to operate a motor vehicle.- Teamwork and independent work capability.- Advanced computer skills.- Willing to work evenings, on-call, and weekends.
- Periodic travel and criminal record check required.
**Physical Demands**:
- Frequent lifting (5-40 lbs) unassisted.- Occasional lifting (41 lbs +) assisted.- Mobility in tight spaces.- Fit Testing and working at heights periodically.
- Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
