**Job Description**:
**Salary range (OIT-II) : $38.36 - $ 45.13**
**POSITION PURPOSE**
Reporting to the Supervisor, Centralized Maintenance Support and under the guidance of the Team Lead Skilled Trades and Operator, is responsible for providing technical and operational support to the Region’s water and wastewater infrastructure including installation, troubleshooting, testing and repairing of mechanical systems, components and equipment and assisting in design of project work as needed; implementing preventative and condition monitoring maintenance programs; and supporting the optimal operation of water and wastewater infrastructure to meet Provincial Acts, Regulations, Regional standards and technical codes; provides contractor oversight and quality assurance and working with department staff and consultants.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supports the optimal operation of water and wastewater infrastructure to meet Provincial legislation, technical and Regional standards.
- Uses Computerized Work Management Systems (CWMS) technology to execute work management processes as it relates to mechanical work; ensures that daily, weekly and monthly schedules and projects are completed on time.
- Maintains, analyze and performs repairs on a variety of equipment related to water and wastewater operations, as per applicable codes such as the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Ontario Building Code, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, National Plumbing Code of Canada, Ontario Water Resources Act, etc.
- Takes process equipment out of service using SCADA for repairs, or testing and places equipment back in service after commissioning, in coordination with operations staff and as per applicable operator license level.
- Assist in preparation of deficiency lists; confirms accepted completion of work by the contractor through site inspection; recommends final acceptance of all work.
- Providing counselling services on equipment and/or process optimizations to all areas including operations, capital planning, infrastructure management and external service providers.
- Ensures that all safety equipment required is available at the job site and is in proper working order.
- Ensures security and safekeeping of tools and supplies.
- Performs Operator activities to the level of certification obtained in accordance with Regional and Provincial standards as assigned.
- Works in consultation with the Team Leads, and operations and maintenance staff, as required, on matters related to all operator tasks, maintenance and repairs.
- Performs standby duty as assigned and responds to emergencies, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Certificate of qualification by the Government of Ontario, in Industrial Mechanical Millwright (443A), Plumber (306A), Well Technician License 4 or Licensed Gas Technician II.
- Successful completion of MECP Operators’ Licence in Water OIT and Wastewater OIT within six months of appointment.
- Successful completion of both level 1 and 2 MECP Operator’s License in the regulated period of time.
- Minimum four (4) years related experience in maintenance and troubleshooting, preferably in a water and wastewater environment, including experience in mechanical electrical equipment and pump maintenance procedures.
- Must have completed or be able to successfully complete courses in Preventative Maintenance, CPR and First Aid, Confined Space Entry, and Mobile Crane operation and equipment.
- Valid Ontario class “D” driver’s license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and “Z” endorsement or valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license free of serious offences under the HTA and ability to obtain a valid Ontario Class “D” license and “Z” endorsement within six months of appointment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the TSSA, CSA, Arc Flash, Building Code, Safe Drinking Water Act, Reg. 903 and regulations pertaining to environmental and safety aspects in the area of operations and maintenance of water and wastewater.
- Knowledge of relevant industry related legislation and regulations and of the OH&S Act.
