JOB DESCRIPTION: Test Specialist

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

- Reports to the Engineering Lead
- Test Technician reports to the Test Specialist

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Test Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing testing procedures to ensure our wire harness products meet rigorous quality standards. This role involves close collaboration with quality, design, and production teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize testing processes.

KEY RESPONSILILITIES:
Testing and Validation:

- Develop and execute test plans for wire harnesses to ensure safety, functionality, customer requirements, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, and high-potential tests.
- Analyze test results and provide detailed reports, identifying any defects or areas for improvement.

Process Development:

- Design and implement automated testing systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to develop test fixtures and equipment.
- Continuously improve testing processes through the implementation of best practices and new technologies.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

- Investigate and diagnose issues with wire harnesses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain comprehensive records of all test results, methodologies, and equipment used.
- Prepare and present reports on testing outcomes and quality metrics to management and customers.
- Ensure all testing documentation complies with company and industry standards.

Quality Assurance:

- Support quality assurance initiatives by participating in audits and process reviews.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve product design and manufacturing processes.
- Perform internal calibration of test equipment and ensure schedule is maintained
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated according to schedule (internal and external).

Supervision:

- Oversees/guides the Test Technician
- Provides daily feedback as well as performance reviews

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

- Internal: All members of the leadership team, prototype team, and Quality Specialist
- External: Customers and Customer Representatives

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

- Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer, preferably in wire harness manufacturing or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical testing equipment and methodologies.
- Experience with automated testing systems and tools.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong understanding of IPC-620 workmanship standards

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- This role requires regular interaction with the Production team.
