**JOB SUMMARY**

We are looking for a compassionate clinical or counselling psychologist with excellent problem-solving skills who is committed to helping people better their lives. The psychologist will make assessments and identify a wide variety of disorders in clients, formulating suitable treatments by focusing on listening to patients and identifying their core problems, building strong, long-term relationships based on trust, and monitoring patient response to treatment over time, among other duties. As a psychologist, you will provide safe, quality patient care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the ByWard Family Health Team.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Testing and assessing patients for indications of mental health disorders
- Using psychology to improve the quality of life for individuals, groups and families
- Aiding in the patients coping with their conditions by teaching them how to adopt more healthy and positive behaviours and habits
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and strategies to help patients
- Encouraging and reciprocating sustained openness
- Generating comprehensive treatment protocols
- Referring patients to other specialists or doctors as needed
- Keeping a detailed accounts of patient mental health history
- Collaborating other healthcare providers or team members to evaluate the medical and physical condition of the patient

**ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Doctoral degree in Psychology
- Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
- Expertise in prevailing evidence-based protocols
- Expert diagnosis skills
- Experience providing psychological treatment to patients of all ages
- A flexible, empathic, and receptive approach to psychology
- Knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation principles and techniques
- Strong listening, observation, and communication skills
- Familiarity with EMR/CHR systems
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset

**ACCOUNTABILITY**

All staff are expected to work in parallel with the organization’s confidentiality agreement.
