Reporting to the Psychology Lead of the Special Education and Student Services department, the Psychologist provides consultative and direct psychological services to meet the needs of students, families and schools at both the elementary and secondary levels. The role supports a tiered model of evidence‑based practices, assists with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), determines eligibility for exceptionality designations, collaborates with community agencies, and provides supervision to unlicensed staff and residents. Diagnose complex neurodevelopmental, mood, anxiety, and disruptive behavior disorders. Develop and implement evidence‑based interventions to support student learning and academic skill development. Provide consultation and support to educators within a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework. Conduct comprehensive psychological, psycho‑educational, and diagnostic assessments. Prepare student applications for specialized community placements. Support classroom and resource teachers in the development of IEPs. Design and deliver workshops, presentations, and in‑service training on mental health and academic achievement. Offer individual counseling and psychotherapy to children and adolescents. Formulate crisis response strategies and lead critical incident responses. Participate in Violence Threat Risk Assessments (VTRA). Assess suicide risk and provide interventions per the Urgent Care Protocol. Coordinate with community agencies to connect students and families with external services. Maintain detailed, accurate records of assessments and interventions per the College of Psychologists of Ontario standards. Participate in meetings, committees, staff development, and training as required. Pursue ongoing professional development. Perform other duties as assigned by the Psychology Lead. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in Psychology. Certificate of Registration Authorizing Autonomous Practice as a Psychologist in Ontario, or eligibility for registration. School psychology declared area of competency with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Training or coursework in child and adolescent development, psychological and psycho‑educational testing, therapeutic interventions, and best practices in school psychology. Experience working with children and/or adolescents and conducting psychological and diagnostic assessments. Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal abilities. Familiarity with standardized assessment tools. Knowledge of current best practices and ethical standards in school psychology. Proficiency with assessment, intervention, and documentation technology (e.g., Q‑Interactive, Laserfiche). A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle. Assets Counseling or clinical psychology declared area of competency. Experience with screening measures for literacy and math (e.g., DIBELS, Acadience). Certification in Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA). Training and experience in CBT, EFT, or other clinical interventions. Proficiency in clinical supervision skills. Job Opportunities Available Full‑time (1.0 FTE) permanent – anticipated start as soon as possible. Salary range: $104,103–$130,480. Full benefits and pension package. Full‑time (1.0 FTE) temporary – start date January 5 2026, end date June 28 2027. Comprehensive pension package.
