**Job Description**:
The Risk & Accounting Analyst will support all areas of compliance and risk focusing directly on insurance, bonding, internal audit and enterprise risk management. They also maintain the payroll accounting function of the business, focusing on payroll cost structure, reconciliation of payroll GL accounts, and support with budgeting and forecasting labour expenses. This is a great opportunity to learn about all areas of the business and work closely with our operations and legal teams to ensure risk is mitigated across the organization, as well as be closely involved with all shared service departments in structuring their labour costs.
- Provide assistance, ensure accurate and timely response to project teams for all insurance inquiries
- Provide accounting and payroll with accurate labour cost reporting
- Record monthly internal insurance premiums as well as code and track invoices to ensure timely payments are made
- Integrate changes within ERP software as needed for tracking labour cost accurately within changing structures in the business
- Assist with the compilation of insurance renewal information and provide monthly insurance reporting requirements
- Reconcile applicable payroll-based GL accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis. Prepare year-end working papers to support yearly external audit
- Maintain and safeguard records including insurance certificates, bonds and other documents
- Support Assistant Controller with labour expenses through quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes
- Prepare quarterly internal control testing, summarizing findings as well as recommending process changes
- Reconcile missing timesheets for salaried staff to ensure accurate labour allocation to project costs
- Facilitate the quarterly ERM voting process, providing training and support to senior management
- Opportunities to be involved in process improvement projects within the area of risk and loss prevention
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of undergraduate degree or diploma in; business, construction management, risk management, insurance preferred, however, a combination of education and experience in the related fields will be considered.
- Experience in insurance or the construction industry is an asset.
- Experience in processing or reviewing payroll is an asset.
- Ability to perform data analysis, with strong knowledge and experience working in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
