Work Schedule: Monday - Saturday, 9am-5pm (with flexibility to meet operational needs), ~7-20 hours per week

Nature and Scope of Work
The Indigenous Peer Outreach Worker reports directly to the Peer Programs Coordinator. The nature and scope of work for this role entail a comprehensive range of responsibilities focused on fostering client recovery and maintaining a safe, supportive residential environment.
Illustrative Examples of Work
- Provide individual and group peer support to clients of Pacifica Treatment Centre Society.
- Provide on-going community engagement with clients in relation to their self-directed recovery and wellness goals, including but not limited to accompanying a client or group to peer self-help groups i.e., AA, NA, SMART Recovery, etc.
- Accompany clients offsite to scheduled appointments such as medical, dental, optometrist, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and client interactions, ensuring confidentiality.
- Track and record client attendance in sessions, follow-up with client paperwork, support client needs through check-ins working alongside volunteers.
- Bolster and mentor clients within the Peer Mentorship Program.
- Act as the initial point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, or requests.
- Triage and prioritize client needs, using sound judgment to determine urgency and required response.
- Communicate promptly with appropriate interdisciplinary team members (e.g., case managers, clinicians, support staff) to relay relevant client information.
- Accompany clients on outings if/when they require one-on-one support during group outings.
- Adhere to the Peer Support Guidelines and the Pacifica Treatment Centre Agreement.
- Complete the on-boarding training and 20-hour Peer Outreach education modules.
- Attend department, Staff, and supervision meetings.
- Assist in peer training and orientation on an as needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year of lived experience with recovery and/or intersecting inequities (required)
- Ability to effectively deal with stress.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting individuals from an enhanced quality of life and well-being approach.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and non-violent communication methods.
- Commitment to Pacifica’s philosophy of anti-oppression, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Certificates in CPR, First Aid.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written in English.
- Must be proficient with computers.
- Must have the physical abilities to perform the duties of the job (be able to stand/walk for long periods of time).
- Detail oriented, reliable, and responsive.
