**All Nations Outreach Society Job Posting: Outreach Worker**

All Nations Outreach Society is a non-profit organization that provides trauma-informed support, cultural and community connection to Indigenous people in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. We provide holistic and ongoing support, unconditional love and care to those ready to heal. We partner closely with First Nations in the process to support reconnection to community wherever possible, including in some cases supporting our members to travel home.

All Nations Outreach Society is seeking an Outreach Worker to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Vancouver with occasional opportunities for travel. The work week is primarily Monday-Friday during the standard working day (including one weekly Tuesday evening shift), with occasional requirements for evening and weekend work.

**Outreach**
- Conduct outreach, including wellness checks, to members in the community;
- Establish ongoing, respectful and trauma-informed relationships based on trust;
- Facilitate cultural activities such as smudging, brushing, etc. where appropriate and comfortable;
- Facilitate the use of community services and resources (including harm reduction), connecting with outside agencies as needed;
- Provide advocacy for emergent needs;
- Facilitate access to cultural opportunities and connections, including to other All Nations programs;
- Facilitate safe re-connection to families, communities and First Nations where appropriate and desired;
- Supporting a broad range of cultural programming at All Nations Outreach Society, as well as trips with participants to activities across BC;
- Designing, coordinating and delivering new programs as required;
- Supervising volunteers and practicum students as needed;
- Connect with partners to provide support to new residents in the community;
- Tracking statistics/impact stories and participating in debriefs;
- Other tasks as needed.

**Bi-weekly Service Provider Meetings**
- Hosting and attending bi-weekly service provider meetings in the Downtown East Side;
- Facilitating a safe space for partner organizations to debrief and receive mutual support, as well as to discuss emerging needs and trends;
- Following up with partner organizations as needed.

**General**
- Participating in regular administrative duties, such as submitting receipts for reimbursement, submitting statistics/impact stories for reporting, completing hour logs, etc.;
- Participating in various meetings, gatherings and conferences related to All Nations Outreach Society business and activities.
- Acting as an ambassador for All Nations Outreach Society in the community.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Minimum one year of professional or lived experience providing support to Indigenous individuals or communities experiencing barriers to wellness, ideally within the DTES.
- Knowledge of cultural protocols and engaging respectfully with First Nations and Indigenous people;
- Ability to build and maintain connection with Indigenous people living in the DTES;
- Ability to de-escalate and manage conflict in a culturally appropriate manner;
- Knowledge of programs and services available to Indigenous people in the DTES;
- Food Safe Level One certificate or willingness to get certification;
- Overdose response training or willingness to get training;
- Drivers License Class 5 an asset.

**Compensation**

$32.50 an hour for 35 hours per week, with paid vacation provided.
