We are seeking an individual who is passionate about promoting health and wellness equity in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) to join our Mobile Outreach Program. This program aims to provide access to primary care and Elder-led cultural care for new and existing members of the Kilala Lelum Health Centre, through an outreach based culturally-safe, trauma-informed, member-centered, and harm reduction approach.

**Job Summary**:
The **_MOA/Outreach Worker _**is an integral part of the Mobile Outreach Program (MOP) team, working directly with the Program Manager and interdisciplinary care team to deliver outreach-based primary care and Elder-led cultural care within the DTES community. This program is delivered primarily through our mobile clinic (van), whereby the MOA/Outreach Worker’s role is to establish and maintain positive and engaging relationships with folks in the DTES, perform medical office duties (such as referrals, maintaining clinical and non-clinical supplies, and updating Electronic Medical Records), work collaboratively with program partners and members to deliver care, and perform other logístical and support duties. Depending on program needs, this position may support other programs at Kilala Lelum, including working in-clinic with the Relational Care and/or Chronic Pain programs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Establish relationships with members and provide culturally safe, kind, and empathetic support.
- Greet and check-in members; manage wait/sequence of visits; submit lab requisitions, investigations, and prescriptions; book follow-up appointments.
- Manage Electronic Medical Records (OSCAR EMR) and perform clerical duties to arrange care for members accessing the Mobile Outreach Program.
- Coordinate and communicate with program partners to deliver services at various sites around the community.
- Maintain the mobile clinic van’s medical supplies, organizing and restocking as needed.
- Provide support to primary care providers (Nurse Practitioner, Physician, Nurse) and Elder-led cultural care providers.
- Outreach and engage members; facilitate and manage flow of members accessing services.
- Manage and operate program equipment (including digital devices),\ and maintain clinical, cultural, and non-clinical materials and supplies.
- Distribute harm reduction and other supplies (food, socks, etc.); support with referrals and connections to other community services and supports.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Completion of Grade 12.
- Completion of Medical Office Assistant/Administrator course, with consideration for desire to learn and some relevant education, training, and/or experience (please explain in your Cover Letter). Good computer skills and ability to type 45 w.p.m.
- Minimum of one year experience in an environment (ex: outreach, housing support, community services) that serves Indigenous community members and/or communities with multiple barriers to health and wellness equity, preferably within the DTES.
- Desire to work with the residents of the DTES and provide exceptional service.
- Ability to be culturally appropriate and trauma-informed with members.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and maintain good working relationships within the team and with community partners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Valid BC drivers’ license with clean driving abstract an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to culturally-safe, trauma-informed, member-centered, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented practices
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as restocking supplies, unpacking orders, arranging and organizing supplies. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15lbs and be comfortable walking in increments of up to 20 minutes.
- Experience and knowledge of Indigenous peoples and Indigenous culture would be extremely beneficial. Completion of a cultural competency course or willingness to participate required.

**Working Conditions**:
Some administrative and preparation work will be performed at the Kilala Lelum Health Centre, with mobile and outreach services performed in and around the DTES community. Working schedule is 32-40 hours per week with participation in regular rotation of afternoon and/or weekday shifts based on programming needs. Occasional weekday evening availability may be required (1-2 times per month). Daily schedule may involve a combination of outreach and in-clinic work (ex: outreach in the morning and work with other program in the afternoon).

**Supervision Provided**:
This position is supervised by the MOP Coordinator and MOP Manager and will receive support and mentorship from the in-clinic MOA team and the Primary Care Co-Leads.

**Additional Information**:

- Hourly salary is between $26.01-$29.07, commensurate with experience.
