Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Education or Program Manager, Education and Implementation, the Project Coordinator, Education Team provides project coordination and support for a variety of education-focussed projects and resources. Works with members of the interdisciplinary team to help plan, develop and implement education and implementation. Supports the development of targeted education plans. Coordinates medical education (CME) events and related registration and resources requirements. Tracks various project activities and reports on status of projects. Builds effective relationships with stakeholders to increase visibility, participation and success of education projects and initiatives. Position requires travel to represent and support BCCSU at conferences and events.
Qualifications / Skills and Education:
**Education**:
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a degree in public health or a related field.
A minimum of three (3) years recent, related experience in a coordination role, including project management.
Three (3) years of experience working in a health care environment is an asset.
Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle as travel will be required for local travel around metro Vancouver area. Local travel beyond Metro Vancouver would be rare.
Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with concepts related to addiction medicine, public health research, and the social determinants of health is an asset.
- An understanding of the ways in which laws and policies have contributed to the marginalization of people who use drugs, or a willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical education or adult education.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to implement project plans, meet timelines, juggle competing priorities, and creatively problem-solve to realize project completion.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task with attention to detail and awareness of broader structural and institutional issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with health systems partners and building and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.
- Knowledge of social determinants of health and commitment to addressing the needs of people who are marginalized and face barriers in accessing care.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an ability to quickly learn computer programs (e.g., instant messaging, project management software)
- Knowledge of online survey tools.
- Must be able to work flexible hours (i.e., some evenings and weekends due to event scheduling and travel).Local travel around metro Vancouver required, local travel beyond metro Vancouver rare and based on employee capacity
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides project coordination for education-focused BCCSU projects and resources, including dissemination and implementation of clinical guidelines and related materials.
- Works collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education and implementation initiatives.
- Develops course schedules, tracks participant information, manages participant questions and concerns, and produces correspondence related to educational opportunities for participants.
- Coordinates continuing medical education (CME) events, including working closely with and communicating with health care professionals who are content experts and other stakeholder groups. Ensures education materials, outlines, presentations, online content and other documentation available in a timely manner for educational events.
- Supports logístical activities for events by booking rooms, venues, virtual sessions, sending out notifications and arranging for equipment and other resources. Provides technical support for digital venues.
- Promotes awareness of BCCSU education activities and initiatives by developing and disseminating marketing and promotional materials both online and print.
- Builds effective relationships with stakeholders that promote the achievement of cooperative goals and contributes to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. Works in tandem with team and internal stakeholders to support short-term and long-term needs that enable the success of BCCSU education initiatives.
- Helps develop and execute targeted education plans by meeting with stakeholders and gathering information regarding their specific needs and developing an educational plan to meet it (e.g., webinars, in-person education sessions, etc.).
