The Disability Services Division encompasses the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) and Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) programs, which work with individuals, children and families within the differing program’s mandates and legislation to understand the support needs of individuals, children and families to provide individualized supports and services within the scope of each program.
**Role Responsibilities**:
The position of Disability Services Supervisor plays a pivotal role in providing leadership, coaching, support, direction, and consultation for Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and/or Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Program staff. It also provides support and direction to families, guardians, individuals with developmental disabilities, agencies/service providers, and community partners. Reporting to a Program Manager in the Zone, the Disability Services Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of Disability Services Caseworkers, whose role is to support individuals and families to get connected to community services and supports.
This is a front-line leadership role that leads, directs, and supports staff’s capacity, competency, skill, ability and understanding to perform their duties as it relates to the Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and/or Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Program. Additionally, this role monitors and evaluates staff’s compliance to legislation, regulation, standards and policy, and has a responsibility in the performance management cycle for direct reports.
This position is a liaison to the management team and helps to translate strategic direction into aligned operational processes. Strong communication, conflict resolution, political acumen and interpersonal skills are necessary to handle a variety of challenging situations. **Qualifications**:
University Degree in a related Social Service discipline (Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, Rehabilitation and Disability Studies) and a minimum 2 years related experience.
- Equivalency:
- Master Degree and 1 year related experience;
- Related university degree and 4 years related experience;
- Related diploma and 5 years related experience;
- Related certificate and 6 years related experience.
Assets:
- Demonstrated supervisory work experience
- Familiarity with a broad range of human services resources to advise a variety of stakeholders (i.e. AISH, Alberta Health Services, OPG/T, Children’s Services)
- Working knowledge of FSCD/PDD’s mission and vision
- Cultural competence and sensitivity
- Understanding of personnel policies and procedures and Human Resources directives
