**Wage**:$17.00/hr
**Location**: Sheridan College, Trafalgar campus, Oakville ON
**Important Information**:Previous food service and customer service experience required. Cash handling an asset.

**Job Summary**:
**How you will make an impact**:
You will be responsible for running the sushi operations including preparing and presenting sushi and related food products to customers.

**As a Sushi Chef, you will**:

- Cook and manage the entire process of making high quality sushi including cooking sushi rice, making rolls and sushi, temperature recording, cutting, and packaging for take-out and dine-in plate preparation
- Create a rich sushi menu with various main ingredients and raw fish (for example, salmon, tuna, unagi.)
- Select fresh fruits and vegetables to make high-quality dishes (like avocado, mango and carrots.)
- Add additional flavors to sushi rolls with ginger, rice vinegar, wasabi and soy sauce, when appropriate
- Manage food prep activities, like boiling rice
- Coordinate with wait staff to ensure proper cooking, considering special requests and food allergies
- Prepare appetizers, soups and salads that are close to the philosophy of Japanese cuisine.
- Monitor food stock and place orders, as needed
- Recommend new, modern recipes, like sushi burgers
- Maintain sanitation of all equipment, supplies and utensils within the work area; keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to assure compliance with all sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements

**About you**:

- Demonstrate high-level knife skills and specific skills associated with sushi prep, production, and presentation
- Good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi-rolling techniques
- Post-secondary education in culinary or related studies
- You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
- Sushi making experience required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Able to work independently and as a part of a team
- Able to stand on feet for an extended period of time
