**Job Responsibilities & Requirements**:

- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily purchasing activities
- Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services; develop and execute cost reduction and cost avoidance plans
- Create and generate KPI’s for supply base
- Identify vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies
- Negotiate, or oversee the negotiation, of purchase contracts
- Resolve delivery and pricing discrepancies with suppliers
- Resolve payment issues in collaboration with financial team
- Resolve delivery discrepancies with suppliers
- Review and analyze system generated planned orders and issue purchase orders accordingly
- Ensure appropriate component parts are delivered to manufacturing facility including ordering, expediting as requested, and close liaison with manufacturing, sales, logistics, and warehouse personnel where applicable
- Report on material related issues at the daily production meeting and escalate when appropriat
- Create sourcing strategies to ensure stability of supply
- Develops supplier base to support business needs via dual sourcing or strategic partnerships, as needed
- Experience in Spire an asset

**Knowledge & Skills Required**:

- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management - experience with overseas buying and inventory control an asset
- 2-5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent communication skills; listening, comprehension, and feedback
- A passion for doing high quality work
- The ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical problems
- High attention to detail
- Effective time management and logical decision-making ability
- High level of planning, organizational & implementation skills
- Solid analytical and technical problem-solving skills
