- Successful applicant's will be required to complete a criminal background check at employer's expense upon offer of employment.
- High school graduate or equivalent experience

**Requirements**:

- 1-3 years of general maintenance experience (electrical, plumbing, small machine, generator maintenance, propane, etc)
- Good physical and mental health.
- Must comply with the _Canada Labour Code_and all of _Northstar Policies and Procedures._
- Complete any necessary training as required by Northstar Frontier

**Working Conditions**
- Must be willing to work a minimum 11 hour day, overtime pay is applicable in compliance with the Canada Labour Code
- Must be comfortable working alone without supervision
- Must be willing to travel regularly and work in remote areas for extended periods of time.
- Will be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions
- May require working in damp, dusty, dirty areas and enclosed spaces
- May be required to climb up and down ladders up to 14 feet.
- May be required to handle infectious material (soiled linen and towels).
- Must be able to move continuously (push, pull, stretch, walk, bend) during work hours and able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
- Hauling garbage over rough terrain up to 1000 feet by hand or with wheel barrel.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Perform janitorial duties to a fleet of boarding cars which houses railway crew workers. (cars include kitchens, diners, sleepers, wash cars, generator cars, etc.)
- Follow Safe Operating Procedures (sweeping, mopping, cleaning & sanitizing washrooms & common areas, etc,)
- Garbage removal twice/day from kitchen or as directed by the Kitchen Staff.
- Troubleshoot problems with various systems
- Check & maintain generators (oil levels, fuel levels, antifreeze levels)
- Change filters (oil, water, fuel, air, etc.)
- Maintain chlorine levels in chlorinators (add if necessary)
- Maintain microphor toilets, lubricate air system, add bioculture as needed
- Rinse out toilet system
- Drain air compressors
- Arrange for the service of septic tanks as required
- Check propane levels
- Check water levels (including in transporter)
- Check fuel levels (including fuel transporter)
- Ensure set up is accurate (toilets, showers, sinks & drains)
- Maintain furnace and air conditioner operations & thermostat settings
- Preparing own meals when cooks are on days off, leaving the kitchen in a clean and sanitary state.
- Assisting cooks with various duties as required such as loading groceries, laundry etc..
- Acting in a professional and courteous manner with the the customer at all times.
- Doing laundry as required while crews are on days off.
- Complete H&S training (WHMIS, General Safety Awareness, Lock out Tag Out, Propane Safety)
- Be familiar and comply with MSDS to ensure your personal safety as well as the safety of staff members

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
