Dishwasher/kitchen Helper

**POSITION TITLE**: Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant (FULL-TIME)

**LOCATION**:Village Grocer (Markham, Ontario)

**TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR**: Executive Chef, Kitchen / Prepared Foods

**Scope**

**Role Requirements**
- Experience in a restaurant or food production environment
- Basic knowledge/care of industrial chemicals used in the dishwashing process
- Fluent in speaking and reading English.
- Available to work both day and evening shifts as well as one (1) day on the weekend
- Can work extended hours on occasion (i.e. Thanksgiving/Christmas)
- Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance.
- Adheres to company dress code (uniform, hat/hairnet)
- Maintains a clean and safe workspace environment
- Endure medium to high levels of physical exertion (standing, bending, lifting, etc.)
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Observes company code of conduct, policies and store rules
- Food safety and handling knowledge

**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee dishwashing duties and efficiently operate dishwasher equipment/chemicals
- Wash commercial pots, pans, utensils, etc. using automated dishwasher or by hand
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
- Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment
- Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in cooking and storage areas
- Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated recycling & pickup areas
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Working Conditions**
- Inside, loud, hot, slippery floors, fast paced
- May sustain minor cuts, burns and bruises on occasion while on the job
