**What you will do**
The Assistant, Venues works closely with the Manager, Special Occasions and Venue Rentals to ensure smooth execution of special occasions and after-hour rentals by corresponding with clients, staff, and vendors. Kitchener Public Library believes in providing a high level of customer service to all members of the community in a way that meets their unique needs, regardless of their age, background, or ability level. This includes customers that may be living with addiction, mental illness, experiencing homelessness or have other complex needs.
In this role you will:
- Provide a high level of customer service while working alongside library staff to minimize patron impact for special occasions during library operating hours
- Answer client and vendor questions about event flow, setup and timelines
- Coordinate venue rentals calendar in collaboration with the Manager, Special Occasions and Venue Rentals, confirming availability and checking for conflicts with library programs
- Facilitate the finalizing event setup requirements by coordinating between clients, external vendors, and internal library staff
- Answer questions and provide onsite support to special occasions and venue rentals during and after-hours at the library
- Assist in customer access to rental equipment, including filling orders (payments and recording transactions) and arranging equipment for pickups
- Operate the standardized AV set-up in the theatre
**What you bring**
- 2-Year college diploma in Event and Meeting Management or related field of study
- 6-12 months in event planning and management
- Evening and weekend availability mandatory
