**Job Overview**:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Activity Student to join our team in a senior care facility. The Activity Student will have daily interaction with residents to encourage them to participate, socialize and be active in a manner which is conducive to independence, comfort, safety and privacy. The Activity Student will also take on special projects as assigned by the Supervisor or CEO. This position supports the provision of a safe, caring, and high-quality environment for staff, residents and tenants.

**Responsibilities**:
All duties under the supervision of our activity staff
- Assist staff with bringing residents to and from the dining room for meals and special functions.
- Take residents for walks as instructed.
- Gardening and outdoor activities.
- Sit and talk with residents.
- Perform escorting duties both inside and outside the home.
- Assist and lead activities with seniors in arts and crafts activities.
- Assist and lead in weekly activities as parties, teatime, bingo, games and exercises.
- Plan, organize and facilitate a variety of events for residents.
- Help the resident in their daily life activities.
- Be aware of safety and report any incidents immediately to the office.
- Work on occasional weekends as required.
- Assist with bringing residents to Rosary and hairdresser.
- Participates in training and educational workshops.
- Responsible for special independent projects, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:
Canada Summer Jobs Requirements:

- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.
- Familiarity with the entire Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of the aging process.
- Demonstrable attributes of empathy and patience.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Adherence to the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
- Current vulnerable sector screening police check.
- Good communication skills.
- Respectful and positive attitude when dealing with residents.
- Attentive listening to residents or family members.
- Appropriate conversations with residents.
- Participate in professional, public and community events to strengthen, broaden and protect the image of and reputation of Wawel Villa.
- Works independently and as a team member.
- Potential behavioural issues with clients.
- Potential exposure to health risks.
- For safety reasons do not wear open toed shoes. Wear clothing appropriate to the department.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 9 weeks

Pay: $16.55 per hour
