Summer Student - General Labourer

The South Fish Creek Recreation Association (SFCRA) is a not-for-profit organization that operates Cardel Rec South; a very busy community recreation facility. We are proud to offer our community four ice arenas, gymnasiums, eight multi-purpose rental/program rooms, and a variety of recreation programs. In addition, we have numerous tenants whose services complement our mandate.

We are proud to be an equal Partner in the delivery of services and operations of the South Fish Creek Complex, a multi-partner recreation, education and library complex located under one roof in the Shawnessy Towne Centre.

The SFCRA is seeking dynamic team player to fulfill the roll of General Labourer. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor team and is designated to work out of the Cardel Rec location. Must be willing to work holidays and weekends.

**Specific accountabilities will include**:

- Perform minor maintenance/repairs that require the ability to safely use a variety of tools and equipment
- General labour duties including painting, general clean-up, manual labour, and yard work.
- Minor administrative functions
- Assist with building maintenance and equipment requests
- General Clean up and Housekeeping
- Other projects/duties assigned by Operations Team

**Qualifications required**:

- Between the ages of 15 - 30
- Registered in a recognized Canadian Post Secondary institute for Fall 2023
- Previous construction experience is an asset
- Previous painting and landscaping experience is an asset
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs. repeatedly and performing physically demanding work
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, being responsible, resourceful, and autonomous
- Ability to work outdoors, at height, and in all environments;
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Excellent communication skills in English both verbally and written
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Safety conscious
- Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector
- Standard First Aid would be considered an asset
- Understanding of current standards and/or best practices in arenas and ice plants
- Ability to read, write, and professionally communicate with public and co-workers.

**START DATE**: June 2, 2025

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
