**POSITION TITLE: Member Relations and Communications Coordinator**

The ROYAL VICTORIA YACHT CLUB (RVYC) requires a **Member Relations & Communications Coordinator **to work in an exciting and vibrant environment. The RVYC has over 1000 members who are passionate about yachting, keen volunteers and love their Club.

Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Member Relations & Communications Coordinator is responsible for new member processing and special events. This includes working closely with the Club Administrator and other staff, Chairs of volunteer Program Committees, and members. The position plays a significant role in producing and creating communications products, such as a weekly newsletter (The Jibsheet), social media, event posters and keeping information current on the Club’s website.

The work environment requires flexibility, self-motivation, and meeting tight deadlines.

**Member Relations**
- Provide a welcoming environment for new and potential new members by welcoming, providing tours, describing benefits of membership, and following up to ensure new members are oriented and welcomed in the Club;
- Maintain RVYC‘s public social media presence such as the RVYC Facebook page and Instagram ;
- Prepare and distribute media releases as requested by the General Manager
- Respond to Member inquires;
- Provide support to the Food & Beverage Manager by informing and promoting menus and services;
- Work collaboratively with the Entertainment Committee composed of member volunteers to develop and run Special Events for members.

**Communications**
- Create and maintain new member guide;
- Develop content with input from Program Committee Chairs, and distribute communications to members including the weekly Jibsheet, Club Annual, handbooks, brochures, website, and other electronic and non-electronic materials;
- Collect electronic copies of photographs from members representing the Club’s wide range of events and activities, reviewing for quality, and supporting the Communications Committee in choosing those that tell member stories for the weekly Jibsheet and the Club Annual;
- Design and produce/arrange for commercial production of posters, banners, and other forms of promotional materials;
- Provide other graphic design as required.

**Office Administration**
- Provide administrative support where required, including, answering the phones, making dining reservation on Opentable. Providing backup to the Club Administrator during peak workloads, vacation coverage, sick relief, and for special projects.

**Merchandise**

Take ownership of the Club merchandise, Gift Shop, including ordering, inventory and maintaining stock. Selling items from the Gift Shop.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Training**
- Communications, business development and marketing training is an asset;
- Training in office administration is required;
- Computer literacy is a must including programs such as MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Publisher and MailChimp;
- Training in use of the Jonas system is highly desired but not mandatory.

- Strong command of English communication (written and verbal);

**WAGE**

We are able to offer $26 per hour with a benefits package. Prefer you work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. Must be able to work the occasional evening or weekends as required for events.
