Accounting Clerk

***Accounting Clerk (Financial Services)**:
**(CUPE Full-time, Time-durated)**

Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm with a 35-hour workweek. Please note this is a time-durated position with a contract for 6 months, with possible extension.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintaining general ledger accounts while performing account analysis, reconciliations, and account balancing.
- Reconciling various subsystems such as accounts receivable, customer deposits, letters of credit, and inventory, while preparing accounts receivable invoicing.
- Identifying, monitoring, and investigating variances while following up with municipal staff and parties to determine required action.
- Producing and distributing bi-monthly cheque runs.
- Supporting the Finance Clerks and Coordinators as required.
- Providing support to the Procurement and Purchasing Division with processing purchase orders and other administrative tasks.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school graduation and completion of two years in a recognized post-secondary accounting program plus sound related experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Enrollment or CPA designation will be considered an asset.
- Ability to prepare and maintain various financial records and reports.
- Introductory Financial Accounting;
- Intermediate Financial Reporting I & II;
- Introductory Management Accounting;
- Courses in Economics, Statistics, and Business Law are also considered an asset.
- Typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing excellent service.
- Experience working in a Municipal environment will be considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License.
