Your role: Sanitation/Safety Team Lead
As Sanitation/Safety team lead you will be responsible to ensure the appropriate sanitation of the plant per written procedures, policies, and regulations, (including Food Safety, HACCP). Lead a sanitation team to complete all required sanitation tasks. Implement safety programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. Deliver training programs as required for all team members. Maintain systems to track facility inspection, safety violations and follow up reports. Participate in accident investigations and preparation of accident reports.

Above all you will be expected to carry out all your activities with reliability, integrity, compliance and in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead sanitation team to complete all sanitation requirements
- Complete and / or assign sanitation tasks as set out in the Master sanitation schedule on time and to the prescribed standard as outlined in the SOP. Follow all safety and food safety requirements.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits and follow up on all action items as directed by Quality Manager.
- Coordinate pest control programs with service provider to ensure all requirements are met, inclusive of the continuous improvement approach
- Complete and/ or assign Final Product Zone cleaning and inspection of sifters, storage bins and other equipment. Follow strict cleaning requirements and complete all relevant permits and food safety checks to safe-guard the integrity of our product.
- Active member of the food safety team.
- Additional Tasks as required, and job coverage as requested.
- Work as a member of a team to change the filter bags. Clean out the bag housing and inspect for defects and pest activity. Replace socks and ensure equipment is returned to full working order.
- Complete all safety and food safety training on time.
- Daily Plant walk throughs and follow-ups with sanitation and operations team.
- Responsible for supporting the development and implementation all safety related items (CAP, inspections, WHSC team member, plan and deliver training programs, promote safety culture, recommend safety improvements)
Essential skills and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and outlook.
- Commitment to safety and quality, including HACCP, GMPs and WHMIS.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; positively contributing to a healthy work environment
- Organized
- Safety knowledge and experience is preferred
Good to have:
- College Diploma or equivalent
- Able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English.
- Able to work with mínimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
- Analytical skills to recognize problems or potential problems.
- Able to prioritize multiple roles.
Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Able to walk up and down stairs or ladders, sweeping, or standing for periods of time.
- Lifting to 30 kg using proper lifting techniques and exert 50kg of force pushing or pulling.
- Must be able to work in environments typical of grain processing facilities.
