Purpose of role
Reporting to the Team Lead, Member Development, Events & Purpose Engagement, the primary focus of this position is the development, management and maintenance of strategic initiatives that foster high levels of engagement and increase awareness and advocacy amongst employees on Foresters Purpose, we enrich family and community well-being. The incumbent will increase employee engagement by providing unique mechanisms for employees to engage in a variety of meaningful ways and rewarding positive participation.
Successful execution of this role will result in increased employee satisfaction and attracting and retaining valuable talent. It will also be key to ingraining Purpose amongst employees by introducing a values-based culture to new hires and re-igniting passion for our Purpose in all employees.
**Job Description**:
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and oversee execution of all employee purpose engagement events and initiatives that support delivery of our Purpose and solidify culture; including related aspects of onboarding & referral program
- Manage annual calendar of employee engagement events and all associated elements: program management, communication, operational management, implementation and follow-up activities
- Design and execute employee engagement events, such as annual volunteer thank you event, new-hire onboarding etc.
- Manage and build relationships with external vendors and partners including charitable partners across North America
- Oversee and support the Employee Engagement Committee, and assist where necessary and help streamline processes and procedures and ensure on-time delivery including scheduling meetings, creating the agenda and preparing minutes
- Manage the employee engagement technology platform by updating programs and troubleshooting where necessary
- Support the development and design of key department and program communications; ie, speeches, presentation outlines, surveys, online articles, marketing material
- Manage the administration and communication around our Day of Caring Policy
- Research industry best practices and establish techniques that add value to our program
- Manage approved budget and payment schedule for the program; reviewing bills for accuracy and processing invoices in a timely manner
- Manage shipping related to events and initiatives, liaising with the mail room and stakeholders to ensure timelines are met
- Develop, track and report on engagement metrics and report and provide recommendations on improvements to the program based on feedback
- Promote the employee engagement program through presentations to various stakeholders and departments
- Support other departmental events and other relevant duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in employee engagement programming, event management, non-profit or related field
- Experience with designing and implementing engagement programming
- University or College degree / diploma strongly preferred, as well as formal on-the-job training in a related field (human resources, adult education, event management)
- Demonstrated experience developing employee engagement and recognition initiatives that are strategically aligned to organizational goals
- Experience with developing and maintaining organizational partnerships
- Knowledge of current best practices related to employee engagement and recognition
- Strong computer skills and mastery of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce plans, budgets, reports, and presentations
- Self-starter with excellent project management, organizational and record-keeping skills
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including excellent relationship management skills; ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with stakeholders at all levels; clients, vendors, colleagues and executives.
- Positive, ‘can do’ attitude, with the ability to anticipate problems and be proactive in finding solutions
- Skilled at working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; ability to set timelines and project progression; flexibility to adapt to emerging issues in a changing environment
- Knowledge of membership-based and/or not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
Standard working hours consist of 37.5 hours weekly. This position will require occasional extended hours during weekdays and weekends and travel as required attending off-site meetings.
