Tumbleweed Playschool is a licensed, non-profit preschool located in the majestic Nicola Valley, dedicated to the positive growth and development of children through play, activities and relationships. We provide both a three and a four-year-old program, and seek an experienced Early Childhood Educator who is excited about creating a fun and nurturing learning environment. The qualified individual will be hired with the basic objective of supporting the supervising teacher and the classroom with strength and initiative, and being a main point of contact for collaboration. Successful applicants will receive a signing bonus after completing a three month probationary period.
*Principle Duties & Responsibilities:*
- Must have a commitment to high quality Early Education programming for children
- Helps plan/ support a stimulating and developmentally appropriate program to meet the needs of children in a safe and healthy environment.
- Directs substitutes and maintains classroom routine, structure and policies in case of supervisor’s absence
- Point of contact for parents in case of supervisor’s absence
- Able to occupy multiple roles in the classroom as needed, such as singing, teaching, implementing art activities, snack preparation, etc.
- Observes classroom tone and maintains a positive atmosphere
- Helps maintain the aesthetic appearance and cleanliness of the facility
- Attends monthly board meetings and AGM
- Along with the supervisor, works under direction of the board of executives
*Position Qualifications and Requirements:*
*BC license to practice as an Early Childhood Educator
*Minimum one year experience in the ECE field
*Valid First Aid Certification with CPR
*Completion of a negative Criminal Record Check
*Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work closely with team members
*Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural differences
*Adequate energy levels and ability to meet the physical demands of the job (able to lift up to 50lbs)
*Initiative and dedication
*Able to provide references
