**Job Summary**
The Corporate Secretary ensures the Board of Trustees has all the information and tools it needs to accomplish its mission. The incumbent liaises with the Board of Trustees, senior management and with government authorities. It provides strategic guidance and support to the Chair with the objective of ensuring sound Board governance practice. Advice is also provided to the Director and CEO, and senior management with respect to Board relations.
The Corporate Secretary is also responsible for the Museum’s Access to Information and Privacy program and oversees the Gallery’s responses to Parliamentary Questions. The incumbent works with all the departments to ensure that responses are provided in a timely manner.
The incumbent is a member of the Senior Management Committee and manages the Office of Corporate Secretary, its staff and budget.
**Requirements**:
- Post-secondary level education from a recognized academic institution and/or equivalent experience and training;
- 7-10 recent years of experience in a Corporate Secretary role;
- Proven experience working with a Board of Directors, internal colleagues, representatives from federal agencies and ministries;
- Minimum 8 years experience in corporate administration and priority setting at a senior level;
- 7-10 years of working experience in roles of increasing responsibility, complexity, and demonstrated leadership;
- 5 years experience managing a Board Secretariat budget and work plans;
- 7-10 years managing employees;
- 5-7 years experience overseeing the processing of requests and complaints for information submitted under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act;
- Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
**Condition of Employment**
- Must meet the bilingual requirement to be invited to the interview process.
